Black History Month 2022
“Black people stand not apart from but in the center of American history. Every American who honors Black achievement and accomplishment honors their nation. Dig deeper. Read more. Listen and learn from those who know. Appreciate the sacrifices, innovation, and unrequited love that Black people have given this nation.” – Renee Graham, Boston Globe
Every February, communities across the country honor Black History Month. Here at SPAN, we are taking time to not only reflect on t he history of injustice faced by Black people but to celebrate Black joy and triumphs. We are working hard to learn and unlearn how racism has shaped our systems, and its intersections with domestic violence. This Black History Month, we invite you to learn alongside us and understand how we can better provide support BlPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) survivors in our community.
