February Staff Member of the Month : Spanish Bilingual Housing Stability Coordinator, Jorge Gonzalez-Soria!
Meet our wonderful Spanish Bilingual Housing Stability Coordinator, Jorge (he/him), SPAN’s February Staff Member of the Month! Growing up in a traditional Mexican household in the mountains of Colorado, Jorge knew he wanted to support his community from an early age. Often acting as translator for his grandmother, Jorge developed a passion for language justice and providing resources to Spanish-speaking communities. After receiving his degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice (as first-generation college student!), Jorge entered the world of human services and joined our team in October of 2021. Here at SPAN, we could not be more grateful for Jorge’s unwavering kindness and leadership on behalf of survivors of domestic violence and their families.
On the Housing Team, Jorge connects clients with housing opportunities and supports them in their journey towards independence. Jorge is especially driven to provide resources to survivors facing the greatest barriers to stability, and strongly believes access to safe and affordable housing is vital to unlearning and stopping violence in our communities. Over the last year, Jorge has strengthened SPAN’s Economic Empowerment Program (EEP) to provide financial, employment, and legal resources to English and Spanish speaking clients. In the future, Jorge hopes for more affordable housing options throughout Boulder County and opportunities to build community with one another.
Thank you, Jorge, for your dedication to creating a safer community and supporting survivors of domestic violence. We appreciate all you do!!
