January Staff Member of the Month: Harpiar Kaur
Meet the amazing Harpiar (she/her), SPAN’s January Staff Member of the Month! Since joining SPAN amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Harpiar has used holistic and creative practices to help survivors feel rooted in Boulder. Originally from Santiago, Chile, Harpiar has called Colorado her home from more than 14 years. She is passionate about helping immigrant clients, mostly monolingual Spanish speakers, begin to heal and connect with their community. Harpiar’s warm energy and her ability to empower those around her, makes her an extraordinary advocate and part of our organization.
As the Spanish Bilingual Tri-City Counselor and Community Advocate, Harpiar regularly meets with survivors and gives them space to share their stories. Harpiar uses a variety of techniques to support her clients, such as breathwork and meditation, learned through her experience as a Kundalini yoga practitioner and teacher. She is especially driven to support women, through motherhood and all life’s changes, and remind them of their power and resiliency. In the future, Harpiar hopes to provide new opportunities to foster collective healing through cultural traditions, nature, and art.
Thank you, Harpiar, for your invaluable work on behalf of survivors of domestic violence and their children!
