Routes

SPAN the Rockies, Sunday, August 15, 2010
SPAN the Rockies offers three routes, including the only fully supported double metric century bike tour in Colorado. Scenic 130K and 75K routes are also available. All routes will have well-stocked aid stations and SAG vehicles/mechanical support along the course.
Start/Finish
The ride starts and finishes at Elevations Credit Union, 2300 55th Street, Boulder.

Double Metric Century - 200K (125 miles)
Start Time: 6:00 - 7:00 am
Enjoy an exhilarating climb from Boulder to Ward and along beautiful Peak to Peak Highway to Estes Park. Return to Boulder via South St. Vrain Canyon and Lyons. Over 9,000 feet elevation gain. Must be 14+ to participate. Sorry, no tag-a-longs or trailers permitted on this route.
Please note: Riders must arrive at the intersection of Highway 72 and Highway 7 by 10:30, and must depart from the Aid Station near Ferncliff (Aid Station 4) by 11:45 to continue to Estes Park. Riders who do not arrive at these locations by these cut-off times will be asked to begin their return to Boulder.
130K (85 miles)
Start time: 7:00 - 8:00 am
Challenging in its own right! Climb from Boulder to Ward and along Peak to Peak Highway before returning to Boulder via South St. Vrain Canyon and Lyons. Over 5,000 feet of climbing! Must be 14+ to participate. Sorry, no tag-a-longs or trailers permitted on this route.
75K (45 miles)
Start time: 8:00 - 9:00 am
Great for riders seeking a longer supported ride without the difficult climbs and fast descents. Loop from Boulder to Lyons along the scenic foothills north of Boulder. Rolling terrain. Must be 14+ to participate. Sorry, no tag-a-longs or trailers permitted on this route.
The 75K route is a flat ro rolling route with minimal elevation gain.
Please Note:
- Helmets are required for all rides.
- Please ride safely, lawfully and considerately.
- Riders are required to follow all traffic laws and regulations.
- Riders are required to abide by our Rider Safety Agreement.
- All riders must be 14+ as of August 15, 2010 to participate in SPAN the Rockies.
- All riders are required to sign a Waiver when they register; an adult must sign for riders under age 18.
- Tag-a-longs and trailers are not permitted on any of the routes.
- Tandems are allowed on all routes.
