SPAN is committed to building violence free communities by strengthening collective knowledge and culturally specific responses that support survivors.  

Trainings are available for organizations, companies, support groups, faith-based groups, or any other collection of people who would like to increase their knowledge about Domestic Violence & supporting victims and survivors.

SPAN Trainings:

  • SPAN programs overview (30 minutes)
    Learn about how SPAN provides services to survivors of domestic violence. What is SPAN’s scope of work and what is the best way to refer people?  
  • Domestic Violence 101 (60-90 minutes) 
    Defining domestic violence beyond physical and sexual violence. What are the barriers to leaving an unhealthy or abusive situation?  
  • Safety Planning Basics; (60-90 minutes)  
    Risk assessment, goal setting, resource mapping, safety actions 
  • Trauma Responses & Basics of Trauma Informed Practices (90 minutes) 
    How does trauma work in the brain? Trauma responses look and feel different to each individual person. What are best practices when working with survivors of trauma?  

A note on custom trainings: If you would like a training that is custom tailored to your area of focus, or are wanting more than what is listed above, please indicate as so when you fill out the interest form. Custom trainings are available on a varied basis depending on scope of expertise and capacity.
