October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), and awareness can be a starting point for action.
Every event is an opportunity to help strengthen the support available to people experiencing violence. There are many ways to show up this October. Scroll down for more details and add a date to your calendar!
McGUCKIN HARDWARE
October 9–18 | Round Up at the Register
Already planning a trip to McGuckin Hardware? Round up your purchase at the register and help support SPAN. For McGuckin, giving back is part of being a local business. The company sees SPAN’s work providing safety, advocacy, and support to people and families affected by violence as closely aligned with its belief that, “a strong community takes care of its neighbors.”

GRACIE JIU-JITSU BOULDER
October 10 | 3–5 PM | Women Empowered
Join this special self defense class and spend the afternoon building confidence, awareness, and connection while supporting SPAN. No experience necessary and everyone is welcome. As owner Carla puts it, “You are worth defending.”

STUDENT POTTERY SALE
October 10 & 11 | 10 AM–4 PM
Find something special while supporting SPAN. Shop student-made pottery at this pop-up event, with all proceeds benefiting SPAN.

GRAVITY BREWING
October 26 | 3:00pm–9:00pm Give Back Monday
Stop by for a pint or craft soda and support SPAN! $2 from every pint of beer or craft soda will be donated to SPAN. People come to Gravity to meet friends, share a drink, watch a game, or simply have somewhere to be. Help fill SPAN’s emergency shelter with items people need.
