Cecilia connected with SPAN through our Tri-city Latina Group and received individual counseling through our Outreach Counseling Program. Cecilia moved into our Transitional Housing Program in April of 2012 with her two daughters. At the time, she was working as a stylist at a hair salon, and she entered the program with the goal of obtaining legal residency status. She faced many barriers as an undocumented immigrant. Within a year, Cecilia obtained her work visa and legal permanent resident status through SPAN’s Immigration Clinic. She was then able to become an employee with the Boulder Valley School District, providing bilingual services to students and families. Cecilia no longer needs housing assistance through our Transitional Housing Program, and she is pursuing home ownership.
