Irene

Irene was referred to SPAN through our Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) in September 2013. Irene was arrested for the incident, however upon further assessment, we determined that she was incorrectly arrested due to self-defense and was in fact a victim defendant. Irene was court ordered to complete offender treatment, and her assistance through Transitional Housing allowed her to complete these obligations and payments quickly. She was also able to obtain full custody of her children, who had been in the care of their father after the incident, but are now safe with their mother. Irene graduated from Transitional Housing in May 2014, and through the assistance from the program, Irene was able to generate savings and is now renting her apartment without assistance.
