A Community That Takes Care of Its Neighbors

For more than 70 years, McGuckin Hardware has been part of everyday life in Boulder. Generations of customers have walked through its doors for everything from a hard-to-find part to a weekend project—and along the way, the store has built something bigger: a relationship with the community around it.

That relationship is one reason McGuckin has proudly supported SPAN since 2016.

For McGuckin, giving back is part of being a local business. The company sees SPAN’s work providing safety, advocacy, and support to people and families affected by violence as closely aligned with its belief that “a strong community takes care of its neighbors.”

This October, that commitment comes to life through McGuckin’s Register Round-Up program.

From October 9–18, customers can choose to round up their purchase at the register, with the additional funds supporting SPAN. It’s a simple action, but McGuckin has seen how those extra cents—and sometimes extra dollars—can add up to thousands of dollars for local nonprofits.

That matters because community support doesn’t always have to be a big gesture.

Sometimes it’s the few extra cents added to an everyday purchase. Sometimes it’s a business making space for a local organization. And sometimes it’s thousands of people making a small choice that adds up.

McGuckin says it is continually inspired by the generosity of its customers and grateful for the opportunity to make a difference “one round-up at a time.”

Support SPAN at McGuckin Hardware October 9–18, 2026 by rounding up your purchase at the register.
